Greetings Wine Lovers!
We will be open this weekend, January 17th & 18th, from 12-4.
We have some very exciting news. As a lover of California wine, we’re sure you are aware that the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition is the most prestigious judging of wine around. We knew our new releases were special, and it looks like the judges agree, awarding us FOUR medals! Let’s hear a big round of applause for our Silver winners, “Heartfelt” Petit Sirah, and Cabernet Franc, and our Bronze winners, Pinot Noir (Dijon clone), and Syrah!
Have a BARREL of fun!
February 7th will be the 3rd Annual Wineries of Santa Clara Valley Barrel Tasting Day. Participating wineries will have new, unreleased wines for participants to try. We’ll have some of our 2013 reds to try, and we will once again be selling futures by the case at very steep discounts.
And if you’ve been following our Facebook page than you already know…there will be a mystery winery joining us. And no we can’t tell you who, it’s a secret.
News from the rows:
We are currently hedging and pre-pruning the vineyards with our new “Samurai Saber” (cutthat.com). Pre-pruning means we are going over the vines with a gigantic trimmer, leaving the canes much longer than pruning will. This will make pruning easier, as we won’t be navigating a tangle of branches, trying to see what’s going on. We’ll start pruning at the end of January.
We’ve gotten pretty darn good at making reds, whites, and meads, so naturally we ask ourselves, “what next?” We’re considering something sweet, more specifically, a Merlot dessert wine. Before committing, we would like to know beforehand if there is interest. Please feel free to put in your two cents on dessert wines next time you visit.
Our staff will be attending the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium at the end of January, to attend technical sessions, learn more about the entire process, and check out all the exhibits
On the road again…
We will be participating once again the Downtown Campbell Wine Walk, on February 11th. We’ll keep you posted as to where we’ll be pouring, just as soon as we know.
